Installing Mercurial

Mercurial’s pretty easy to install, actually. I keep per-system installations under ~/sw/local instead of ~/.

$ # grab latest release from http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/release/?M=D
$ # add PATH=$PATH:~/sw/local/bin to .bashrc (or equiv)
$ # add PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:~/sw/local/lib/python to .bashrc (or equiv)
$ wget http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/release/mercurial-1.2.tar.gz
$ tar xzvf mercurial-1.2.tar.gz
$ cd mercurial-1.2
$ make install-home HOME=`echo ~/sw/local`
$ cd ..
$ rm -rf mercurial-*
